Affinity Community Services

Affinity Community Services is a Black-led, queer-led social justice organization serving Chicago, IL and the broader Chicagoland region with comprehensive programming and advocacy for Black LGBTQ+ communities. For 30 years, Affinity has delivered transformative services centered on Black queer women through community organizing, intergenerational programming, peer education, and healing justice practices. The organization specializes in education, health and wellness support, safety advocacy, and civic engagement initiatives designed to address the unique needs of Black LGBTQ+ individuals across all intersections of identity. Affinity's work encompasses community-building activities, transformative justice practices, and activist organizing that create brave spaces where all aspects of LGBTQ+ identity are fully embraced. Operating from their South Side Chicago location, Affinity combines direct services with systemic advocacy to end the marginalization of Black LGBTQ+ people. The organization's multifaceted approach includes peer-led programming, intergenerational mentorship, and educational initiatives that empower community members toward collective action and Black liberation. With a track record of three decades of service, Affinity has earned numerous accolades including recognition from the City of Chicago and national organizations for outstanding community activism and social service. Whether through wellness programming, educational workshops, or community organizing efforts, Affinity remains committed to co-creating inclusive spaces where Black LGBTQ+ individuals can thrive and lead.
