ALSO Youth

ALSO Youth is a comprehensive nonprofit organization serving LGBTQ+ youth and their communities throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties, Florida. Since 1992, ALSO Youth has provided essential peer support services, educational programs, advocacy initiatives, and community referrals designed to empower gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and questioning youth ages 13 to 24. The organization's integrated approach addresses the critical needs of sexual minority youth while extending support to families, friends, and the broader community. ALSO Youth offers counseling services, youth programs with a detailed calendar of weekly activities, and specialized initiatives like PromiCon, an annual inclusive prom celebration. The organization's educational training programs for educators have been instrumental in creating safer school environments and promoting awareness of sexual minority youth issues. By combining peer support with professional counseling and community education, ALSO Youth enhances self-esteem, promotes healthy dialogue, and increases understanding across the Sarasota area. The organization was founded in partnership with established community institutions including PFLAG, Planned Parenthood, and YMCA Youth and Family Services, reflecting its commitment to collaborative, evidence-based support. Today, ALSO Youth continues to expand its services in response to growing community needs, demonstrating sustained dedication to creating inclusive communities where LGBTQ+ youth can thrive.
