About Boston Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Youth
The Boston Alliance of LGBTQ+ Youth (BAGLY) is a pioneering youth-led, adult-supported organization serving the Boston, MA community and Massachusetts at large. For nearly 50 years, BAGLY has provided comprehensive programs and services designed to support queer and trans youth in achieving healthy, authentic lives. The organization offers three innovative core programs alongside thousands of events, activities, and opportunities annually that empower LGBTQ youth to take care of themselves, take agency over their futures, and take action in their communities.
BAGLY's service offerings are grounded in evidence-based practices and social justice principles. The organization provides social support, leadership development, and health promotion programs tailored specifically to the needs of LGBTQ youth. Their services include youth-led education initiatives, peer support networks, and comprehensive referral services. Recognizing that LGBTQ youth face unique challenges including homelessness, mental health concerns, and social isolation, BAGLY creates affirming spaces where young people can connect, learn, and grow.
Beyond Boston, BAGLY's impact extends throughout Massachusetts through the AGLY Network, a coalition of 15 LGBTQ youth-serving organizations and programs. This network reaches nearly 5,000 LGBTQ youth and young adults annually across urban, suburban, and rural communities. BAGLY has been nationally recognized for pioneering programs that have been replicated across the country, including the nation's first prom for LGBTQ youth and youth-led HIV/AIDS education. The organization serves as a founding member of the National Youth Advocacy Coalition and the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth, demonstrating its leadership in advancing systemic change for LGBTQ youth.
