Equality Community Center

The Equality Community Center in Portland, ME serves as a dynamic collaborative workplace and community hub for LGBTQ+ and allied social justice-seeking non-profit organizations. Located at 15 Casco Street in downtown Portland, the ECC provides comprehensive support services and programming designed to serve Maine's LGBTQ+ community through multiple resident and partner organizations. The center houses over a dozen non-profit organizations including EqualityMaine, MaineTransNet, PFLAG, Pride Portland!, Cross Cultural Community Services, Democracy Maine, and several others whose combined efforts reach thousands of LGBTQ+ people annually through advocacy, education, community events, and direct support services. With nearly 22,000 square feet of accessible office, meeting, and event space across three floors, the ECC offers a permanent, welcoming home for community gatherings and organizational collaboration. The facility includes fully accessible amenities such as a self-serve café, reading room with lending library, art gallery, free WiFi, and the Safe Combinations thrift store operated by MaineTransNet. Beyond workspace and meeting facilities, the ECC is spearheading Maine's first affordable senior housing complex designed specifically for LGBTQ+ older adults, reflecting the organization's commitment to comprehensive community support.
