Fairness Campaign

The Fairness Campaign is Kentucky's leading LGBTQ advocacy organization dedicated to advancing civil rights through comprehensive legislative action and community education. Based in Louisville, KY, the organization works across the state to achieve its primary goal: comprehensive civil rights legislation prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression. The Fairness Campaign accomplishes this mission through multiple strategic approaches including public education, legislative advocacy, political activity, and community building initiatives.

Since its founding in 1991 by ten Louisvillians, the Fairness Campaign has successfully championed the enactment of Fairness Ordinances in 24 Kentucky communities and counting. These ordinances provide critical protections against LGBTQ discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations. The organization maintains active partnerships through the Fairness Coalition alongside the ACLU of Kentucky, Kentucky Commission on Human Rights, and Lexington Fairness, while serving as Kentucky's member organization of the national Equality Federation. In the Kentucky General Assembly, the Fairness Campaign actively advances pro-LGBTQ legislation while opposing discriminatory measures. The organization's work encompasses dismantling systemic racism as a central component of its advocacy efforts, recognizing that all issues of oppression are interconnected and require coalition-based solutions. Through grassroots organizing and non-violent activism, the Fairness Campaign empowers individuals and builds a sustainable social justice movement creating lasting change throughout Kentucky.
