LGBT Bar Association of New York

The LGBT Bar Association of New York operates comprehensive legal services designed to support the LGBTQ community across New York, NY. As one of the nation's first and largest bar associations dedicated to LGBT legal professionals, the organization provides free drop-in legal clinics offering holistic consultations and referrals for a wide range of legal matters. The weekly Tuesday Night Clinic at the LGBT Center in Manhattan operates from 6:00-8:00 p.m., staffed by experienced volunteer attorneys who deliver 15-20 minute consultations on housing, immigration, family law, criminal issues, employment discrimination, and additional legal concerns. The organization also maintains specialized clinics including a weekly Youth Clinic for LGBTQ youth, monthly clinics in partnership with SAGE in the Bronx and Harlem, and expanded services in Newark, New Jersey. As an accredited CLE provider, LGBT Bar NY offers professional development programs covering LGBTQ-specific legal topics and practical skills for practitioners. Members benefit from access to the organization's Pro Bono Panel and Lawyer Referral Network, connecting solo practitioners, law firms, and legal services organizations with both pro bono opportunities and potential fee-paying clients. The association facilitates professional growth through numerous committees and sections addressing Family and Matrimonial Law, In-House Corporate Counsel, Judiciary matters, Solo and Small Law Firm Practice, Diversity initiatives, and Public Interest Law.
