Oasis Youth Center

Oasis Youth Center is the only drop-in and support center dedicated to serving LGBTQ youth ages 11-24 in Pierce County and surrounding areas, based in Tacoma, WA. Since 1985, Oasis has provided comprehensive programming and resources specifically designed to meet the unique needs of queer and questioning youth. The organization operates over 30 hours of weekly programming tailored to youth interests and developmental needs, including drop-in hours, specialized workshops, and special events throughout the year. Oasis offers youth access to adult mentorship, peer support networks, educational resources, and leadership development opportunities in a safe, affirming environment. The center provides intake services for youth ages 14-24 during designated drop-in hours and accommodates younger participants through specialized programs like Project 13. With support from dozens of staff and volunteers, Oasis serves more than 500 youth annually through activities focused on cultural celebration, artistic expression, leadership skill-building, and personal growth. The organization emphasizes a youth-adult partnership model where young people and adults collaborate on shared learning, teaching, and community action. Programming addresses critical areas including healthy relationships, consent education, wellness, and LGBTQ community history and advocacy. Oasis Youth Center remains committed to creating pathways for queer youth in the Tacoma area to not merely survive but authentically thrive as valued, creative leaders within their communities.
