About Out Youth's Texas GSA Network

Out Youth's Texas GSA Network provides comprehensive support and resources for Gender & Sexuality Alliance clubs across Texas, with coordination efforts based in Austin, TX. This statewide program unites school-based GSA student clubs and individuals through an innovative online forum, regional coalitions, and virtual training initiatives designed to strengthen youth leadership. The organization equips students, parents, teachers, and faculty with the tools needed to establish, strengthen, and sustain GSA clubs that create lasting impact in their school communities.

The Texas GSA Network builds youth capacity in three critical areas: creating safe learning environments where students support each other and actively combat homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, and other forms of oppression; educating school communities about gender identity, sexual orientation, and the LGBTQIA2+ community; and fighting discrimination, harassment, and violence throughout Texas schools. Research demonstrates that schools with student-led GSA clubs benefit significantly—LGBTQ students with GSAs in their schools are 36% more likely to feel safe, while all students in these environments benefit from learning spaces where bigotry is unacceptable.

Based in Austin, the organization recognizes that only 46% of Texas students currently have access to a GSA club, and works to close this gap through strategic regional partnerships and resource development. The Texas GSA Network provides ongoing support through registration drives, volunteer coordination, speaker availability, and direct mentorship from experienced coordinators. By connecting youth leaders across the state, the organization empowers LGBTQIA2+ and allied students to fearlessly be themselves while transforming their schools into safer, more inclusive communities for everyone.
