PFLAG Michiana

PFLAG Michiana is an inclusive support and advocacy organization serving the South Bend, IN community and surrounding Michiana region. As part of the nation's largest family and ally organization with 400 chapters and 200,000 supporters nationwide, PFLAG Michiana provides comprehensive support services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) individuals alongside their families, friends, and allies. The organization operates through monthly meetings held on the fourth Thursday of each month at The LGBTQ Center in South Bend, with both in-person and virtual Zoom options available to accommodate diverse participation needs. PFLAG Michiana's mission centers on advancing equality through three core pillars: support, education, and advocacy. The organization creates safe, welcoming spaces where families and loved ones can explore questions, concerns, and hopes while building understanding and connection. Beyond direct support services, PFLAG Michiana actively advocates for and supports local resources that empower LGBTQ youth throughout the community. Since its establishment in 1992 by two dedicated mothers with LGBTQ children, the chapter has been instrumental in strengthening the local support infrastructure, including playing a key role in establishing The LGBTQ Center, which has served the South Bend community as an ongoing resource since 2005.
