PFLAG Salisbury

PFLAG Salisbury provides comprehensive support, education, and advocacy services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) individuals, their families, and allies throughout the Salisbury, MD community. As a chapter of the nation's first and largest LGBTQ+ organization, PFLAG Salisbury delivers essential resources and programming designed to foster understanding, acceptance, and equality. The organization offers monthly community meetings held on the second Monday of each month, creating safe spaces where LGBTQ+ people, parents, families, and allies can connect, share experiences, and access peer support. PFLAG Salisbury specializes in family support services, helping parents and loved ones understand and affirm LGBTQ+ family members while providing allies with tools to combat discrimination and harassment. The chapter maintains extensive educational resources addressing sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression, including specialized support pages for transgender individuals and LGBTQ+ parents. PFLAG Salisbury actively engages in community advocacy and legislative work, supporting LGBTQ+-related legislation at the state level while working to influence local policies that promote equality and inclusion. The organization has pioneered visible community initiatives, including introducing Maryland's first rainbow crosswalk in 2018 and establishing the annual Salisbury Pride Parade and Festival. Additionally, PFLAG Salisbury collaborates with local partners to develop workplace inclusion programs and conducts community assessments to identify and address the unique needs of diverse LGBTQ+ populations in the region.
