PFLAG Somerset

PFLAG Somerset advocates for, educates about, and celebrates LGBTQIA2S+ lives in the Somerset, Kentucky community. As the local chapter of the nation's largest family and ally organization, PFLAG Somerset provides comprehensive support services designed to create inclusive spaces where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals, their families, and allies can connect and thrive. The organization hosts monthly support meetings on the fourth Thursday of each month, offering confidential gatherings where LGBTQ+ youth and adults, family members, chosen family, and allies can access resources and community. These meetings are held at A New Beginnings Achievement Center in Somerset and welcome all who wish to learn more about LGBTQ+ issues, regardless of membership status. Beyond regular support meetings, PFLAG Somerset organizes community events and educational programming designed to foster understanding and celebration of LGBTQ+ identities. The chapter operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, relying on volunteer leadership and community donations to provide resources, programming, and events that directly impact mental health and well-being. With membership options starting at $10 per household and no membership requirement to attend events, PFLAG Somerset makes participation accessible to everyone. Founded locally in 2019, the chapter connects with other Kentucky chapters including Louisville and Danville while maintaining the national organization's commitment to creating a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed.
