Tennessee Equality Project

The Tennessee Equality Project is a public policy organization dedicated to advancing and protecting the rights of LGBTQ people and their families throughout Tennessee. Based in Nashville, TN, the organization implements comprehensive legislative advocacy strategies at both state and federal levels. The Tennessee Equality Project actively lobbies the Tennessee General Assembly and local governments across the state to advance equality protections and combat discriminatory legislation. When critical federal issues emerge—such as anti-LGBTQ adoption language in proposed bills—the organization mobilizes constituents to make their voices heard with federal officials. The affiliated TEP Foundation extends this mission through educational and organizing programming, offering Advocacy 101 workshops across Tennessee to empower citizens to engage effectively with elected officials. The organization provides detailed issue briefs and reports analyzing public policy issues affecting the LGBTQ community, while monitoring and analyzing state legislation to identify threats and opportunities.
