The Center of Wichita serves as a comprehensive resource hub for Wichita, Kansas's LGBTQ+ community, providing essential services, educational opportunities, and community gathering spaces. Located at the northeast corner of Market and Murdock in downtown Wichita, the organization maintains a robust collection through the Sally M. Morse LGBTQ Library, offering literature and contact information for LGBTQ+ organizations throughout the city and state. The Center hosts meetings for multiple community organizations, including Wichita Pride Inc. and the Wichita LGBT Health Coalition, creating a central meeting place for people and organizations dedicated to LGBTQ+ awareness and education. For youth aged 13 to 18, the Get Connected program provides a safe, chaperoned environment with food and snacks, offering peer support and community connection. The Center's current strategic focus centers on securing resources and educational opportunities that strengthen Wichita's LGBTQ+ community while expanding available services and support systems. As a member of the National Network of LGBTQ Family Groups and the Family Equality Council, the Center maintains professional connections and evidence-based practices. The organization is run by an active Board of Directors that holds open meetings the first Wednesday of each month at 6pm, ensuring community transparency and involvement. All board members and youth volunteers have completed required background checks, prioritizing safety and professionalism in service delivery.
