The Frederick Center

The Frederick Center is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing comprehensive support and advocacy services to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) communities in Frederick, MD. Since its founding in 2012, the organization has established itself as a well-respected resource hub offering over 500 program events annually designed to meet the diverse needs of LGBTQ+ individuals and families. The Frederick Center delivers peer-to-peer support programming across all age groups, beginning with youth services for ages nine and up, along with dedicated programming for adults and non-LGBTQ+ caregivers and allies. Beyond social and community events, the organization provides access to comprehensive resource directories connecting community members with affirming therapists, medical providers, queer-owned businesses, and local supporters. The Frederick Center also hosts quarterly free LGBTQ+ Legal Advice Clinics, offering essential legal assistance to community members. Throughout the year, the Frederick Center organizes diverse events ranging from drag shows and social networking opportunities to sober tea dances, brunches, and cultural celebrations. The organization is perhaps best known for organizing Frederick Pride, which has grown from 300 attendees in 2012 to over 30,000 participants in 2023. All programming is grounded in the organization's core mission to ensure LGBTQ+ people and families thrive in an affirming, accepted environment within the broader Frederick community.
