About USC Queer Graduate Alliance
The USC Queer Graduate Alliance is a student organization dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ graduate students at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. As part of the university's comprehensive LGBTQ+ Student Center, this alliance provides essential support, education, advocacy, and community programming for students across the spectra of gender and sexuality.
The organization operates under the umbrella of the LGBTQ+ Student Center, one of seven student-support centers housed within Student Culture & Community in Student Life. The Center has been serving the Trojan community since its establishment in 2005, originally founded as the LGBT Resource Center. The graduate alliance facilitates access to critical resources, mental health support through embedded counselors, and leadership development opportunities tailored to graduate students' unique needs.
Programming includes weekly events, one-off specialized activities, and engagement opportunities that foster belonging and connection. The alliance emphasizes intersectionality, recognizing how gender identity and sexuality intersect with race, ethnicity, nationality, ability, religion, and other aspects of students' identities. Through collaborative partnerships with other university departments and student organizations, the USC Queer Graduate Alliance creates an inclusive environment where graduate students can access support services, participate in social justice education, and develop their leadership skills.
Located in Student Union 415 on campus, the center welcomes all students and operates Monday through Thursday from 10am-6pm and Fridays from 10am-5pm. The alliance is committed to providing culturally responsive programming and fostering empowered decision-making among graduate students navigating higher education at USC in Los Angeles.
